Program Outcomes

It is expected that graduates of the Civil Engineering undergraduate program at IZTECH (İzmir Institute of Technology) will have acquired the following qualifications:

  1. Adequate knowledge in mathematics, science, and discipline-specific engineering topics; the ability to apply theoretical and practical knowledge in these areas to solve complex engineering problems.
  2. The ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems; the ability to select and apply appropriate analysis and modeling methods for this purpose.
  3. The ability to design a complex system, process, device, or product under realistic constraints and conditions to meet specific requirements; the ability to apply modern design methods for this purpose.
  4. The ability to select and use modern techniques and tools necessary for analyzing and solving complex engineering problems; the ability to effectively use information technologies.
  5. The ability to design experiments, conduct experiments, collect data, and analyze and interpret results for the investigation of complex engineering problems or discipline-specific research topics.
  6. The ability to work effectively in intra-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary teams; the ability to work individually.
  7. The ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; proficiency in at least one foreign language; the ability to write and understand effective reports, prepare design and production reports, deliver effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  8. Awareness of the necessity of lifelong learning; the ability to access information, follow developments in science and technology, and continuously renew oneself.
  9. The ability to act in accordance with ethical principles, awareness of professional and ethical responsibility, and knowledge about the standards used in engineering practices.
  10. Knowledge of business practices such as project management, risk management, and change management; awareness of entrepreneurship and innovation; knowledge of sustainable development.
  11. Awareness of the impact of engineering practices on health, environment, and safety at a universal and societal scale; knowledge of the contemporary issues reflected in engineering; awareness of the legal consequences of engineering solutions.

Education Purposes

The Educational Objectives of the IZTECH Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program are determined to train civil engineers with the following qualifications:

  • EA1: They work as specialized technical personnel or project managers in civil engineering-related private and public institutions, or they establish and develop their own businesses.
  • EA2: They take part in national and international civil engineering projects.
  • EA3: They can continue their postgraduate education at distinguished universities in the country and abroad.
  • EA4: They are aware of the effects and responsibilities of their profession on community welfare and quality of life and continue their activities as members of the professional chamber.
