Izmir Institute of Technology (IYTE) is a public university in 1992. The faculties and departments started to operate in accordance with the undergraduate program in 1994, and in 1998, students were admitted to the undergraduate programs. Izmir Institute of Technology, whose language of instruction is English, has been serving in Izmir city center since 1999 and since 1999 it has gradually moved to its camp in Urla-Gülbahçe. In our institute, which has an area of ​​approximately 3500 hectares, education and research activities are carried out in a closed area close to 132.000 m 2 and our campus is continuously developing.

IYTE Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program aims to train civil engineers who are open to innovation and have the necessary knowledge in the field and with the capacity to apply their expertise in national and international platforms in order to meet the needs of our country in the construction industry. The secondary objective of the program is to provide the human resources needed by our country for advanced scientific research. With these aims in mind, it is aimed to transform the students who will be educated in our program into practitioners with engineering vision by equipping them with experimental and theoretical knowledge including new technologies.

The world’s received doctorate degrees from various universities (Turkey, USA, UK and Canada) young and a wide range of dynamic staff with our department faculty TUBITAK, the European Union and other institutions supported research projects to carry out, also they contribute still many interdisciplinary projects with other departments . Our academic staff has the necessary qualifications to fulfill our aim of raising highly equipped, researcher and innovative civil engineers.

Izmir Institute of Technology Department of Civil Engineering degree program will be able to get out of the elite academic staff and physical facilities as well as in a foreign language with the opportunity to provide training on the standards of Turkey. In this way, it will be very easy for the graduates to follow the literature both in terms of academic and engineering applications, their employment will be facilitated abroad and their success in their fields will contribute to the increase of the prestige of our country. Students who register to our institute are first taken to the English Proficiency Exam prepared by the Department of Foreign Languages. Those who do not get a passing grade in the proficiency exam take the placement test. The duration of the English Preparatory Program is limited to 4 semesters for undergraduate students and 2 semesters for graduate students. Undergraduate students who do not reach the required proficiency level within 4 semesters shall be dismissed from the Institute.
